Angel's Bakery
has been baking up tasty muffins, cookies and cakes for over 15 years.
But the real story goes back further than that.
Joe Angel, our owner, is the fourth generation of bakers in his family. It all began with Joe's great-great-grandfather, who ran a bakery in Jerusalem, starting in 1929.
Joe like his father and grandfather, got his start at the family bakery.
In 1969, Joe came the US to study grain science, and earned a degree in Bakery Management from Kansas State University. After graduation, he joined the food lab at DCA, where he made contributions to industry
research to improve baking processes.
In 1981, the entrepreneurial urge led Joe to start his own company-Angel's Bakery.
While Angel's makes cakes and cookies, Joe's focus on muffins began in 1984, just when jumbo muffins were gaining in popularity. In one year, Angel's Bakery went from 50 dozen muffins to 700 dozen muffins
a day.
More recently, Joe pioneered the creation of Muffin tops, after seeing the famous Seinfeld episode that featured them.
